Home → FAQ → Questions About CarCheckup's System → Are There Systems that the CarCheckup System Cannot Monitor?
The CarCheckup System relies on OBDII (the Environmental Protection Agency managed On Board Diagnostic System built into your car) to perform its magic.
This allows us to monitor approximately 80% of your vehicles systems!
Some items that CarCheckup CAN'T monitor include:
This is not a limit of the CarCheckup system so much as a limit of the OBDII technology used by auto manufactures.
The CarCheckup system is designed to provide an overview of problems with your vehicle's electronic and emissions systems. This allows us to give guidance in diagnosing and recommending probable causes for your Check Engine Light.
This same technology is used by CarCheckup to monitor driver performance by monitoring things like speed, rpm, hard acceleration, and hard breaking.
It also allows us to report on many other parameters reported by your vehicle like engine coolant temperature, engine load, short fuel trim, timing advance, and many other data points that are of interest to back yard mechanics and "gear heads" alike.
